பன்றியின் குளம்பு விரிகுளம்பும் இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்ததுமாயிருந்தும், அது அசைபோடாது; அது உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருக்கும். - லோவியராகமம் 11-7
பன்றியும் புசிக்கத்தகாது; அது விரிகுளம்புள்ளதாயிருந்தும், அசைபோடாதிருக்கும்; அது உங்களுக்கு அசுத்தமாயிருப்பதாக; இவைகளின் மாம்சத்தைப் புசியாமலும் இவைகளின் உடலைத் தொடாமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக. - உபாகமம் அதிகாரம் 14:8
இஸ்லாம்
தானாகவே செத்ததும், இரத்தமும், பன்றியின் மாமிசமும், அல்லாஹ் அல்லாத பெயர் சொல்லப்பட்டதும் ஆகியவைகளைத்தான் உங்கள் மீது ஹராமாக ஆக்கியிருக்கிறான்; ஆனால் எவரேனும் பாவம் செய்யாத நிலையில் - வரம்பு மீறாமல் (இவற்றை உண்ண) நிர்ப்பந்திக்கப்பட்டால் அவர் மீது குற்றமில்லை; நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் கருணைமிக்கோனும், மன்னிப்பவனுமாக இருக்கின்றான். (2:173)
இவ்வசனங்களில் (2:173, 5:3, 6:145, 16:115) பன்றியின் இறைச்சியை உண்ணக் கூடாது என்று இறைவன் தடை செய்கிறான்.
In Leviticus 11:27, God forbids Moses and his followers to eat swine “And the pig, because it has a cloven hoof that is completely split, but will not regurgitate its cud; it is unclean for you. You shall not eat of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.”

The only things which are made unlawful for you are the flesh of dead animals, blood, pork and that which is not consecrated with the Name of God. But in an emergency, without the intention of transgression and rebellion, (it is not an offense for
one to consume such things). God is certainly All-forgiving and All-merciful.[8]
